Newspaper Article on the Creation of Israel
Israel was created in 1948. Well not really that is when Israel declared independence. Israel was created so the Jews had a nation to call their own after WWII. With only 60 years under Israel's belt, Israel had 3 wars. These wars happened because the surrounding nations were muslim and the muslim people were against having a Jewish homeland. Plus the muslim nations didn't want to share Jerusalem with any other nation and now that there was a new nation to share it many people in surrounding countries were unhappy. My opinion about Israel is the people who started or "created" Israel were brave and did the right thing. Israel has been an important friend to the United States.

1. The holocaust is one of the most terrible events which have occured in the 20th century. All of us have seen documentaries and discussed it thoroughly, and many families have been affected directly. I imagine different people would answer your question differently, but everyone would say they had strong feelings about it.
Oh, about independence day: it's very similar to July 4th. Fireworks, parties, whatever. I think there are less public events here, but you probably wouldn't feel much of a difference.
